Bio

Samaneh Oladi is an Associate Professor in the International Studies Program in the School of World Studies. She earned her PhD in Religious Studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara, with a focus on Islamic jurisprudence, family law, Middle Eastern studies, and women’s studies.

Dr. Oladi is the author of the book Women, Faith, and Family: Reclaiming Gender Justice through Religious Activism, which examines how women reclaim religious authority and advance gender justice through faith-based activism. Her current research focuses on Islamic mysticism, with particular attention to Sufi epistemologies and the moral life.
