If you're a VCU student in a major other than GSWS, consider pursuing one of our department's minors.
We offer a minor in gender, sexuality and women’s studies, and we also have joined with other departments to collectively offer the interdisciplinary LGBT+ and queer studies minor. Explore the links to VCU Bulletin below for more information on the requirements and courses for each.
The minor in GSWS consists of 18 credits. Students are required to take Introduction to Gender, Sexuality and Women’s Studies, a feminist theory course, a course that addresses racial/cultural diversity, and three electives.
The minor in LGBT+ and queer studies consists of 18 credits. Students are required to take Introduction to Introduction to LGBT+ and Queer Studies, a course on race and/or ethnicity as they relate to LGBT+ and queer studies, a course that focuses on LGBT+ and queer studies outside the U.S., and three electives.
