Gender, Sexuality and Women’s Studies, Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) with a concentration in health and science

A Bachelor of Arts in GSWS has been approved and replaces the BIS major track in Women’s Studies effective spring 2007. You may choose from two concentrations in the new BA: General Interdisciplinary Concentration (similar to the BIS major, but with one additional requirement) and Women, Health and Science Focused Interdisciplinary Concentration.

Students may want to consider a double major combining a BA in GSWS with a major in another discipline. The GSWS BA requires 30 credits, just 12 credits or four courses more than a minor.

A Bachelor of Arts in Gender, Sexuality and Women’s Studies requires a total of 120 credits with 30 credits in GSWS courses and at least 15 of these credits in upper level courses. Students may choose from a General Interdisciplinary Concentration or a Women, Health and Science Focused Interdisciplinary Concentration. Students in the General Interdisciplinary Concentration must complete the General Education requirements for the Bachelor of Arts in the College of Humanities and Sciences. Students in the Women, Health and Science Focused Interdisciplinary Concentration must complete the General Education requirements for the Bachelor of Arts in the College of Humanities and Sciences, STAT 210 an additional 3 credits (for a total of 10 credits) in a natural science are required. Gender, Sexuality and Women’s Studies credits shall be distributed as follows:
