Kathleen Ingram, JD, PhD began serving as interim chair of the Department of Gender, Sexuality and Women’s Studies in July 2016. Prior to her appointment as interim chair, she served as Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs in the College of Humanities and Sciences from 2012-2016. An associate professor of psychology, she earned her PhD in counseling psychology from The Ohio State University. She also holds a JD degree from Ohio State and practiced public interest law for several years earlier in her career. Her research focuses on how our connections with other people and with companion animals influence our health and well-being. Working with her psychology graduate students and other colleagues, she has published research related to heterosexism in the workplace, adjustment among people living with HIV, women’s experiences of health stressors (including breast cancer and fertility problems), and counseling psychology journals’ coverage of issues related to sexuality minority groups. She teaches an undergraduate service-learning course on the psychology of women.
